Our Favorite Ways to Wear Pearls
A favorite since forever, pearls pop up in the most exciting and unexpected places throughout our collection. Here's a behind-the-scenes look at the pearls we love, why we love them, and how we bring them to life for you.
What's the difference between Akoya and South Sea pearls?
Akoya pearls are from the saltwater seas of Japan and are prized for their superb luster and flawless sheen. Cultured South Sea pearls are adored for their soft, satiny finish. The large, round variety Irene designs with are exceptionally rare.
What other kinds of pearls do we work with?
Our Tahitian pearls are cultivated in the seas around Tahiti and surrounding French Polynesian islands. Ranging from silvery grey to rich black with iridescent overtones, these pearls are only created in this unique environment.
How do we select our pearls?
Pearls come in many different shades but Irene prefers the purest, whitest of white for our South Sea and Akoya pearl styles.
How can you discern the quality of a pearl?
The more reflections you can see in the surface of a pearl, the higher the quality.
"I always love finding new ways to make timeless styles feel fresh again. That's one of the reasons I love working with pearls so much. It’s so fun to reimagine the classics."
