Malaya Garnets are a rare variety of Garnet whose distinctive colors range from pinkish orange to yellowish orange to lavender, with lighter tones being the most sought after. They have a high refractive index which results in strong flashes of color when reflecting light. These garnets were a special find from the Mahenge district in Tanzania. Although generally known for spinel and ruby mining, these mines also produced this limited lot of exceptional garnets.
