Malaya Garnets are a rare variety of Garnet whose distinctive colors range from pinkish orange to yellowish orange to lavender, with lighter tones being the most sought after. They have a high refractive index which results in strong flashes of color when reflecting light. These garnets were a special find from the Mahenge district in Tanzania. Although generally known for spinel and ruby mining, these mines also produced this limited lot of exceptional garnets. Naturally occurring in all colors of the rainbow, spinel’s hardness only enhances its variety of tones. We seek out stones for their unique beauty, natural inclusions and all.
