Carnelian is the orange to red variety of chalcedony, which is made up of microscopic quartz crystals. Fire Opals are a variety of opal with color ranging from bright yellow, orange or red and is translucent to transparent. They rarely exhibit play-of-color as the revered characteristic is the rich color saturation that is inherent in the stone. Peach moonstone displays a pastel color and the phenomenon called adularescence, which looks like a glowing light beneath the surface of the stone.
